What is the primary ticket market?

The primary ticket market refers to the initial point of sale for tickets, where they are made available to consumers directly from the source. In this market, tickets are sold for the very first time, ensuring their authenticity and originality. The price of these tickets, known as the 'face value,' is predetermined by the event organizers or providers.

What is the secondary ticket market?

The secondary ticket market comprises tickets that are resold after their initial purchase from the primary ticket market, typically the venue's box office. While SeatGeek serves as the main ticketing platform for various leagues and venues, it also provides a platform for users to resell tickets in this secondary market.

Prices in the secondary market are more volatile than those in the primary market. Often, tickets can be found below their original cost, but if those from the primary market are priced low or are in short supply, secondary ticket prices might exceed their face value.

A significant advantage of the secondary market is its availability, even when tickets from the box office are long gone!

What are marketplaces?

A marketplace refers to an online platform specifically designed to enable users to purchase or resell tickets for a wide range of events. This could be concerts, sports events, theater shows, and more.

These platforms provide a secure and organized way for buyers and sellers to transact and get the tickets they desire.

Tixare, in its commitment to give users the best ticketing experience, compares data across a variety of leading marketplaces. This includes, but is not limited to, Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, TickPick, StubHub, and several others. By doing so, we aim to help our users find the best deals and options available in the ticketing world.

Why is the price on your website different from the marketplace I click on?

There are some marketplaces that do not display all fees and taxes upfront, but Tixare is able to gather that data and present it to you on our website. So when you see a price on our website, but see it listed differently on the marketplace it’s safe to assume at the end of the checkout process the prices will match because the marketplace added cost on at the end.

Also, as observed on a few marketplaces, prices and fees may vary based on your location.

Why am I not taken directly to the tickets I click on from Tixare?

Some of the marketplaces do not allow Tixare to link directly to the tickets you’re interested in, so the best we can do is direct you to the event on their platform.

Another potential reason for this is the tickets have been sold or taken off the marketplace.
